Former Higuchi Residence

Located nearby other popular attractions including the Sanada Treasures Museum, Sanada Residence, and Bunbu Literary & Military School, visitors’ eyes will be drawn large thatch-roof of the former Higuchi Residence. Open to the public since 2010, the home is beautifully preserved and offers great insight into the daily life of a high-ranking samurai family. Visitors can enter the house and explore the surrounding gardens and grounds.

	Approximately a 50 to 70-minute drive from the Jigokudani Monkey Park
	From Nagano Station, take the Alpico Bus bound for Matsushiro from Bus Stop No.3 - outside the station's Zenkoji Exit - and disembark at the Matsushiro Station Bus Stop - it takes between 30 to 35 minutes. Once in Matsushiro go to your left and head toward the Tourist Information Center and Sanada Treasures Museum. Continue through Sanada Park, past the Sanada Family Residence and turn to your right. You will see the Former Higuchi Residence on your left - approx. 7 minutes walk
